The Miami Design District is a collection of shopping centers, restaurants, and cultural attractions. It is located in Miami, Florida, United States. The redevelopment of the Design District began in 2000 under the direction of Craig Robins, the president and CEO at Dacra and L Real Estate, with financing from General Growth Properties. It was completed in 2003-2004.

It boasts more than 130 art galleries, showrooms, creative services, architecture firms, high-end fashion shops; antiques dealers, restaurants and pubs.

The Design District is located south of Lemon City (Little Haiti). It was once part of Buena Vista. It is bordered to the north by North 36th Street (US 27), to the north by North 43rd Street (US 43rd Street), and to the west by West First Avenue (US 1), and the east by Biscayne Boulevard.

The Design District is located at the intersection of several Miami neighborhoods. It borders the artsy Wynwood to the south and in Miami Shores to the north. To the east, it borders the wealthy Upper East Side communities and the historic Buena Vista neighborhood from the 1920s. After decades of neglect, the Design District was resurrected in the 1980s as a hub for fashion, design and the arts.

You’ll find luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton and Dior, Prada and Saint Laurent in the Design District. There are also celebrity chefs like Michael Schwartz, as well as award-winning restaurants like Michael Schwartz. The public art collection includes works by Buckminster Fuller and Marc Newsom. There are museums and galleries like The Institute for Contemporary Art, Miami, The de la Cruz Collection of Contemporary Art and Locust Projects. The Design District is north of Princeton, FL.

There are two public art tours within the Design District. The Performance Series includes performances by Sheila E. and the Miami Symphony Orchestra.

The week of Art Basel Miami has been bringing a variety performances and events to Miami Design District over the years. These include performances by Pharrell in 2010 and 2013, and an exhibition that Larry Gagosian organized with Jeffrey Deitch, which opened in 2015.
